A Timeless Reference: Compressor Aerodynamics Now Openly Accessible

A landmark reference in turbomachinery literature, Compressor Aerodynamics, has recently been made openly accessible to the engineering community, bringing renewed visibility to a classic work that continues to influence modern research and practice.

Compressor Aerodynamics

The original edition of Compressor Aerodynamics was published by Longman in 1989. Following Pearson’s acquisition of Longman, the publisher discontinued the book in 2003. To ensure its continued availability, the author collaborated with Krieger Publishing Company in the United States, which republished the work, incorporating all corrigenda from the original edition.

This arrangement remained successful for over two decades. However, in late 2025, Krieger Publishing decided to discontinue its book publishing activities. Recognising the continued relevance and sustained interest in compressor aerodynamics within both academia and industry, steps were taken to prevent this important work from fading into obscurity.

Krieger subsequently released the copyright to the author, and Imperial College London supported the creation of an open-access digital edition. The digitised version is now hosted in Spiral, the university’s institutional repository, ensuring permanent and free global access.

The publication is available via the following permanent link:
