Technical Chair
Sean Bradshaw is a senior technical fellow at Pratt & Whitney, where his primary focus is the development of advanced propulsion technologies that will power the future of flight, including the next generation geared turbofan engines, hybrid-electric propulsion, and hydrogen propulsion, as well as technical evaluations of synthetic aviation turbine fuels. He is also a fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
Sean began his career at Pratt & Whitney in 2006, where he developed physics-based modeling processes & tools to improve combustor and turbine heat transfer predictions, supervised the Hot Section Engineering Methods group, and managed P&W’s advanced turbine technology portfolio until his appointment as senior technical fellow in 2021.
He also provides strategic and technical leadership to the aviation industry by serving as: the chair of the ASME Committee on Sustainability, a member of the ASME Heat Transfer and Aircraft Engine committees, a member of the Aeronautics & Space Engineering Board of the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine, a member of the Industrial Advisory Board for the School of Engineering at the University of Michigan, and a member of the External Advisory Board for the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Columbia University. He has also served as an associate editor of the ASME Journal of Engineering for Gas Turbines and Power, the chair of the ASME Gas Turbine Technology Group, chair of the Gas Turbine Association, and as an adjunct professor of Mechanical Engineering at Columbia University.
Sean earned a Bachelor of Science, a Master of Science, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Aeronautics & Astronautics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology
