Announcing our latest New Executive Committee Members for the Global Power and Propulsion Society

We would like to announce the appointment of two new members to the GPPS Executive Committee: Prof. Susumu Teramoto from the University of Tokyo, Japan, and Prof. Shan-Tung Tu from the East China University of Science and Technology, China.

Susumu Teramoto received his Ph.D. in numerical simulation of aerodynamic stability of a reentry capsule from the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics of the University of Tokyo in 2000. He has been working for IHI from 1994 to 1997 where he engaged in research and development of supersonic propulsion system. He joined Institute of Space and Astronautical Science (ISAS) as a Research Associate in 1997. In 2001, he returned to the University of Tokyo as a Lecturer in Aerospace Propulsion.

Prof. Teramoto’s main research interest covers various flowfields related to aero and space propulsion including numerical simulation, turbulent flows, transcritical flows, and jet acoustics.

Shan-Tung Tu received his B.Eng degree in 1982 and Ph.D. degree in 1988 from Nanjing Tech University. He is a Chair professor of Mechanical and Power Engineering, East China University of Science and Technology. Before this, Prof. Tu worked at Nanjing Tech University and East China University of Science and Technology as a professor and vice present, and a guest scientist at the Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden. He was elected as a member of the China Academy of Engineering in 2019.

Driven by the safety concern of the process and power equipment, Professor Tu has been engaged in developing knowledge in the area of high-temperature structural integrity and engineering, including creep, fatigue fracture, structural integrity monitoring, and design of high-temperature equipment.

We welcome the long-standing expertise and knowledge both Prof. Teramoto and Prof. Tu can bring to the GPPS!
