In Memoriam: Dr. Dara Childs

GPPS extends our deepest and most heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of Dr. Dara Childs, who passed away on May 16, 2024.

Dr. Dara Childs — Mechanical Engineering Professor and long-time director of the TEES Turbomachinery Laboratory — was also a recipient of the GPPS Lifetime Achievement Award.

Throughout his career, Dr. Childs earned widespread respect and built far-reaching connections within the engineering community. His legacy is one of dedication, innovation, and excellence. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him and worked with him.

Remembering Dr. Dara Childs: A Pioneer in Turbomachinery
A memorial event for Dr. Childs is planned for mid-June at the Turbomachinery Laboratory. Further details will be provided soon. 
 
The Laboratory will also host a memorial reception on August 20 during the Turbomachinery & Pump Symposia in Houston. All are welcome: former students, TAMU faculty, current and former TAC and PAC members, TL staff, exhibitors, attendees, and others. Please join us in celebrating the life of Dr. Childs.
