Seung Jin Song is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Seoul National University, where he leads the Turbomachinery Laboratory. He earned his B.S. from Duke University and completed his M.S. and Sc.D. in Aeronautics and Astronautics at MIT. He was an Assistant Professor at Inha University starting in 1995 before joining Seoul National University in 1999.

Professor Song is a member of the National Academy of Engineering of Korea and Fellow of ASME. Currently he serves on the Advisory Committee of the Global Power and Propulsion Society and the International Advisory Committee of the Gas Turbine Society of Japan. He has previously served as a founding board member of the Global Power and Propulsion Society, Chair of the ASME International Gas Turbine Institute, Associate Editor of the ASME Journal of Turbomachinery, and President of the Korean Society of Fluid Machinery.

His research focuses on aerodynamic analysis and measurement in turbomachinery, including boundary layer transition, compressor flow dynamics, and cavitation mechanisms in turbopumps.
