Title: Supply chain challenges and opportunities in support to decarbonisation
Speaker: Renaud Le Pierres (Parker)
Abstract: The first UN Climate Change Conference took place the 28th March 1995 in Berlin following on growing concerns about Green House Gases emissions and their impact on climate. Since then we have seen an increase in technologies developments to decarbonise various sectors, including energy, industries and transports. Some have grown to sizeable scale be it photovoltaic and wind power (respectively 8.6% and 8.9% of global electricity production in 2025). The same goes for electric vehicles which achieved 20% of global new cars sales in 2024. On the other hand many other technologies have been slow to develop / grow despite strong push at political and industrial levels, most often considered too expensive to deploy or lacking demand / infrastructure to do so. We will cover in keynote the supply chain aspect from Parker’s point of view behind some of these technologies and why it remains a challenge to support them as well as the associated opportunities to do so.
