Day 1: Wednesday January 14th | 09:30 – 10:00
Title: Changing Energy Systems and Implications for Land, Air, and Sea Power – The 2025 Energy Security Scenarios
Abstract
In a world wrestling with geopolitical turbulence and rapid technology competition, the Shell Energy Security Scenarios explore multiple futures of the global energy system.
Looking beyond short-term headlines, the scenarios offer insights how national security concerns, cost to the consumer, domestic trade considerations and long-term climate agreements all play a role in energy choices. These choices will shape the different pathways available to consumers and to industries like Aviation, Marine or Power generation. Which energy technologies and energy carriers are or could become competitive and scale? Solar and wind generation is being deployed in record numbers, but what about the role of coal, nuclear, oil & gas and the many forms of low or zero carbon fuels the coming decades? What different choices could be made by different countries because of national security interests or constraint fiscal budgets?
The keynote explores how the Shell Energy Security Scenarios address these challenges and uncertainties. This can be discussed further during the panel discussion following the morning session.
Day 1: Wednesday January 14th | 11:30 – 12:50
Title: Feedback from O&G to End-User
Moderator: Rainer Kurz (RKSBenergy LLC)
Panelists: Olivier Kenter (Shell), Klaus Brun (Elliott Ebara), Francis Bainier (NaTran), Hervé Morvan (Rolls-Royce), Behnam Tahvildar (MAPNA)
Abstract: The panel aims to add to the theme ‘where are we now on
Decarbonization (Power + Propulsion)’ by assembling a panel consisting
of experts from users of equipment and manufacturers of such equipment.
We want to shed light on the lifecycle of fuel in a decarbonizing world.
It addresses issues like the transport of Hydrogen (as a fuel) and CO2
(the carbon produced by fossil fuels), but also the requirements for
equipment manufacturers to provide machines that are needed for
decarbonization.
