Keynote Speaker
Dr. John Gülen, ASME Fellow, a senior engineer in Bechtel’s Infrastructure & Power global business unit, is an internationally recognized expert in steam and gas turbine combined cycle systems and thermal power plant engineering with numerous patents and publications, including five monographs, to his credit. Dr. Gülen’s contributions include development of heat balance software at Thermoflow, Inc., design, optimization, and testing of combined cycle systems with FB and H class gas turbines at General Electric and technical assessment and studies of novel technologies for sustainable power generatioin at Bechtel.
He was named a Bechtel Fellow in 2018.
Dr. Gülen received his PhD degree in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and is a licensed professional engineer.
Day 2: Thursday January 15th | 10:30 – 11:00
Title: Gas Turbines for Sustainable Electric Power – In the Age of AI
Abstract: The presentation is focused on how land-based gas turbines can help to fulfill the global demand for low-carbon footprint electric power.
Tried and true applications as well as new or “innovative” ones will be covered.
Drawing upon the presenter’s extensive field experience (in OEM as well as EPC realm), the goal is to paint a realistic picture.
The impact of accelerating demand and plant construction to satisfy the needs of the AI developers will be considered as well.
