Panelist
Francis Bainier started his career in the gas industry in 1990. He applied his multidisciplinary engineering training as a maintenance team leader at various gas storage facilities.
Following this, he applied his practical and technical knowledge as a Duty Engineer at the National Dispatching Centre.
Twelve years later, he joined the National Maintenance Centre to manage the GRTgaz SOLAR turbine fleet.
He then took up the position of expert in defining maintenance policies, supporting the implementation of new compression facilities. He also carries out international expert missions and shares his knowledge and experience through publications and patents.
He also has the opportunity to be involved in environmental consultancy projects relating to combustion and methane emissions, as well as the pipeline transport of new gases such as biomethane, CO₂ and hydrogen.
Since December 2020, he has led the “Compression Station” working group of H2GAR (Hydrogen Gas Assets Readiness). Since 2024, the group has also focused on CO₂ compression station.

Title: Feedback from O&G to End-User
Moderator: Rainer Kurz (RKSBenergy LLC)
Panelists: Olivier Kenter (Shell), Klaus Brun (Elliott Ebara), Francis Bainier (NaTran), Hervé Morvan (Rolls-Royce), Behnam Tahvildar (MAPNA)
Abstract: The panel aims to add to the theme ‘where are we now on
Decarbonization (Power + Propulsion)’ by assembling a panel consisting
of experts from users of equipment and manufacturers of such equipment.
We want to shed light on the lifecycle of fuel in a decarbonizing world.
It addresses issues like the transport of Hydrogen (as a fuel) and CO2
(the carbon produced by fossil fuels), but also the requirements for
equipment manufacturers to provide machines that are needed for
decarbonization.
