Panel 3: Opportunities and Challenges of SAF:The bridge between Energy and Aviation worlds
Yasu Hashimoto is a Project Management Manager for Japanese Aero Engines Corporation (JAEC), an organization aimed to lead the country’s aviation turbine engine business, jointly run by Japanese heavy industry companies and government. Yasu has been assigned to the current position from the organization’s co-founder IHI Corporation, and manages various R&D projects of commercial jet engine components.
Yasu also acts as the organization’s expert on sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) from his past experience of leading IHI’s microalgae derived SAF project, which the fuel is now approved in international jet fuel standard ASTM D7566 Annex A7 HC-HEFA SPK. Yasu has been one of early SAF evangelists in Japan, and engaged in Japanese SAF activities in forms of lecturer and advisor roles.
