GPPS Forum19
In its third year, GPPS Forum19 will be held in Zurich Switzerland on the 17th and 18th January 2019. The event will offer a platform for the exchange of ideas on the future development of the industry.
These are times of increasing competition in the markets for power generation: Market shares of thermal power plants are shrinking while the shares of wind continue to grow. The resulting changes in technical demands require continuous innovation while resources for R&D will be shrinking. Past trends towards specialization in the design during the last decades and the existing, sequential development processes no longer are sufficient to meet customer demands.

Generous margins in the service business are shrinking and require new business models and new technologies such as additive manufacturing which was addressed extensively at GPPS Forum18. In aviation, continued growth comes with continued pressure for efficiency, requiring innovation and requiring a high level of discipline in development processes as evidenced by recent engine failures.
The participants of the GPPS Forum19 will address these challenges and the long-term technical trends. They will also discuss the contributions academia can make by teaching the necessary skills, training the engineers needed in the future, and researching the topics which will become crucial in the future on Thursday 17th and Friday 18th of January 2019. Executives can move on to the World Economic Forum in Davos taking place on the subsequent week.
