As a not-for-profit volunteer-led organization, GPPS continues to experiment with new ways to provide an environment where people of various backgrounds can discuss the latest issues related to power and propulsion.

First, our Technical Conferences will continue since they are an important outreach to young researchers. We have received very positive feedback from the participants at the GPPS Beijing19, and we thank Conference Chair Professor Sun and Dr. Pan of BUAA and other local organizers for making it all possible. In the future, the technical conferences will continue to be kept deliberately small (under 200 papers) to promote more effective technical exchange. Though tentative, plans are underway to hold a technical conference in Europe (Crete, Greece) and Asia (Xian, China) in 2020 and 2021, respectively.
Second, Forum will undergo substantial changes. GPPS Forum20 will be held January 15-17, 2020, in Zurich, with a focus on aviation, power, and oil & gas. In addition to the keynotes and panels, there will be breakout sessions for further exchange. In addition, GPPS will roll out GPPS Power Edge Summit20 to be held in Belgium. The event will bring together the senior executives at OEMs, technical professionals, and the user community. Beginning in 2021, GPPS will organize two separate events - Aviation Forum and Power Edge Summit – each with a singular focus on either aviation or power. We anticipate GPPS Aviation Forum21 in Switzerland and GPPS Power Edge Summit21 in the US.
Finally, there is a change at the GPPS Journal, an Open-Access publication. As of this year, the GPPS Journal is published by GPPS itself, thanks to the efforts of the founding editor Howard Hodson and Ruta Bilkeviciute. Publishing its own journal should enable GPPS to better serve the authors by reducing time to publication.
As you can see, there are many exciting changes at GPPS. We look forward to seeing you at one of our upcoming events, and we welcome your feedback.
