Keynote: Advances in eddy-resolving computational approaches for flow and noise modelling
Abstract:
Due to the development of novel computer architectures and efficient numerical algorithms, high-fidelity unsteady simulations of complex external and internal flows resolving both the tonal and broadband spectra components become a reality. In this talk, we will review numerical approaches and challenges for flow modelling based on Wall Modelled Large Eddy Simulations (WMLES). Discussion issues include accurate numerical algorithms with low- dissipation and -dispersion properties, mesh generation, and high-performance computing. The experience of our group in WMLES accelerated on Graphics Processing Cards (GPUs), allowing an order of magnitude acceleration compared to the standard WMLES models on multi-CPU computer clusters will be shared. Simulation examples will include jet, wing, and propeller modelling.
