Chania24 Event Program

GPPS Event Program

A letter from the Conference Chair: Prof. Alessandro Corsini

With less than three months until our highly anticipated Technical Conference on the beautiful island of Crete, we are thrilled to share that the schedule is coming together nicely. We have an excellent lineup of confirmed speakers and an impressive array of accepted technical papers that promise to once again make this event a success.

While we finalize the details of our provisional program, let Prof. Alessandro Corsini, our Conference Chair, walk you through the highlights and notable sessions that await you. Keep an eye out for further updates.

Is sustainability engineering agnostic? Not at all.

Advancements showcased at the upcoming GPPS Chania 2024 Technical Conference demonstrate that engineering is far from being the problem, but a driving force for modern energy. These innovations will boost human development while decoupling it from nature.

GPPS Chania 2024, in a nutshell, offers over its 3-day program a means to explore the space of solutions.

The conference program will feature two panels on Sustainable Aviation and Sustainable Energy Power Generation, with influential speakers discussing various west-to-east approaches to achieving the shared goal of a decarbonized world, highlighting the role of turbomachinery in this transition.

To continue driving the space of sustainable energy solutions, the conference will feature invited and technical keynotes that set the tone by weaving together various forward-looking topics. These include offshore wind energy in the new frontier of the Mediterranean, advanced manufacturing in product design, and novel repair approaches, to more technical presentations dedicated to improved engine concepts, energy vectors (LNG) and physics-based data-driven techniques.

Special attention will be given, as customary at GPPS events, to the future of CFD, with top-level scientists addressing the challenges to come in multi-physics and multi-scale turbomachinery simulations. GPPS 2024 will be also launching the CFD workshop with a dedicated the next-gen compressor data set (thanks to TU Darmstadt) in order to boost code-to-code comparison and validation in a genuine multi-stage and unsteady configuration.

Moving to the technical session program, GPPS 2024 will serve as a platform for the presentation of papers attracting a truly global community of engineers and researchers fostering international cross collaboration between countries, academia and industry. If global is the problem global must be the solution.

On behalf of the organizing committee, I have the great pleasure of looking forward meeting you all at the Global Power and Propulsion Society (GPPS) Technical Conference Chania 2024.
