Dr. Dai Kato
Panelist
Dai Kato studied unsteady flows in axial compressors during his doctoral course both numerically and experimentally. After joining IHI, he was engaged in development of aero and aeromechanical technologies for fans as well as highly loaded compressors. He has lead various compressor aero designs for domestic military engine programs and international civil engine programs. He is currently responsible for development of various advanced component technologies for future aircraft engines.

Keynote: Challenges on Key Technologies for Future Sustainable Aviation
Abstract:
To achieve Carbon neutral in aviation by 2050, multiple pathways must be considered for different segment and range of transportation. Finding the ways to produce and deploy sufficient sustainable fuel is a huge challenge for the sector. Impact of non-CO2 on climate needs to be addressed simultaneously. Key technologies to enable evolutionary and revolutionary propulsion systems needs to be focused, such as aerodynamics, composites, electrification and hydrogen systems. New processes for SAF production, particularly on Power-to-Liquid approach, should be sought to have more options. The presentation will cover recent developments and issues on these topics.
